What we saw: Someone once rightly said, It’s all about timing’. And it couldn’t have been a better time to flaunt these beautiful pieces on your wrist. The latest watch collection from Marigold is made of exquisitely blended and carved out pieces. Precious stones like rubies, emeralds, diamonds and others are engraved on gold and silver to create piece that are timeless! A well chosen watch can enhance and complete simple summery look, imbuing it with a fresh breath of air. These watches can also be worn as decorative cuffs, as the designs and cuts on them range from the usual square and round dials, to designs inspired by the peacock. The dials have small, sweet and intricate designs on them along with some colourful danglers at the end of the watch, which complete the whole look of the watch.
What we liked: The watches that caught our attention in the latest collection were the Holy Gold and Mermaid Pearl. Each piece is unique and differently designed. As the name suggests, Mermaid Pearl is weaved around precious pearls, diamonds, gold and danglers at the end of the watch giving it a royal and regal effect.
The reason for using pearls as put by designer Shilpa Marigold is that pearls are the queen of gem and have a natural luminescence that can light up soul and your face when you adorn them.
As for Holy Gold, the design is inspired by sunshine, as the sheen of the gold and diamonds is quite like the bright rays of the sun. The danglers used here are a combination of pink and green tiny solid beads which add to the fun and style quotient. The collection has some of the most brilliantly crafted watches that can be cherished for a lifetime.

“Just because one has a comfortable life and an affluent family doesn’t mean one can’t think of her own ambitions or start her own venture. I met a lot of criticism and struggle when I started the jewellery design classes. I wanted to start an enterprise of luxury designer watches, something that is still very new in India. From diamond grading to the mechanism of creating a watch, I learnt it all. People often think that women pursue these courses for’ time-pass’; that is unfair and judgemental. I am always on top of my family responsibilities. Starting Marigold was something I had to do. I poured my hard work into my venture. When I first created the peacock princess watch, a lot of people discouraged me about the relevance of the design. Today, it has become the highlight of my collection with celebrities coveting it.
“The watch industry is very male dominated, but that didn’t intimidate me. My business communication education also came to my rescue in starting this venture. I feel women just set up their own business. One should take the first step fearlessly and once you set the ball rolling, great things are bound to happen. You owe that to yourself.
